I'm doing a little "Flashback Friday" on the Thrifty Groove. I hope to put up a flashback every Friday through the new year. Something seasonal.
I thought it would be fun to make a pretty witchy hat as a centerpiece for my dining room table. It had to be fun, easy and……wait for it……Thrifty! And I think I did just that.
I found the witch hat at a Goodwill store for .49 cents. So, that was a good start on the thrifty part of this centerpiece!
I looked through what Halloween items I had plus out came my craft stash bins and I just rummaged around and found things I thought would work to beautify in a haunting way Ms. Witchypoo’s hat!
I stuffed the inside of the hat with newspapers so it would stand up.
Fire up the glue gun and start adding the doodads. I started first with 3 bushes of black roses (purchased last year at the dollar store). I popped the flower heads off and started gluing them to the brim at the base of the cone.
After I glued all the black roses I added the purple berry stems here and there. There is no right or wrong way to do this.
I had one of those dollar store tinsel garlands and I cut up 5 inch sections and tied them in a couple of loose knots and tucked and glued them in different areas around the florals. I just wanted to add a little sparkle.
I glued a black feather boa around the rim of the hat.
A little more sparkle with the dollar store stick on rhinestones.
I used a silver candle stick and a large paper plate to elevate the hat for the centerpiece.
I hope you enjoyed your visit. I think this is the last Halloween project for this year. Next up is Fall…finally! LOL Drop back by soon and see some of my Fall ideas!
Have a wonderful day!
