From December to January Decor

Hi everyone!

Do you transition your Christmas decorations to January winter decorations? That is what I have decided to do this year.

I think for the month of January, natural live outdoor type items fit for the month. I am talking pine and evergreen branches, berry braches, pinecones etc.. You get the idea. I also think that pretty much anything items that have to do with winter such as snow is perfect for January.

So, I am picking through the Christmas decorations I have up and pulling any that are specific to Christmas and rearranging items that fit this month.

This is a shelf in the dining room decked for December.

There are several things that I can rearrange and change out to make this shelf more January-like.

An important thing to remember is that I am NOT going out and buying anything new. I will use what I have or what is available to me free.

I went out and braved the little snow blizzard we were having to cut some fresh evergreen branches.

Since this wall is dark brick, I really like to use white up there.

Took away a few things and added some fresh evergreen branches, a couple of white bowls, another white pitcher, mirror snowflakes and pine cones.

There are hooks under this bakers shelf. I just added the mirror snowflakes and some branches.

This shelf is directly under a heating vent. Which means the evergreen will dry out fast but, I have an endless supply to get fresh. The best part is the heat warms up the branches and releases the pine smell!

So, how about you? Do you do small transitions in your home decor between December & January?

  2. Yes, I use greens from the back yard too. I find I use more green and white decor in January.

  3. Oh so pretty. No, in the desert we don't have too many pine greens to clip, and cactus really doesn't look pretty, so I have to find other things or use faux. Love your changes. Hugs, Marty

  4. Very beautiful! I love your changes for January! I am hosting next Wed. a tea for 16 friends, sort of like a belated C'mas party, so I will put the holiday decor right after it! Happy 2014!
