Thrifty Things Friday #135

Hi everyone!

TTF CoHost 1

As most of you know, I have really spent this year decluttering, organizing and purging. I haven’t done a lot of thrifting this year at all. And when I do go to a thrift store, I think very hard on a purchase. I ask myself what I am going to do with it? Will it replace something else I already have? Will it just become clutter?

With those questions in mind, I have really cut down on spending and thrifting. Now, don’t get me wrong, thrifting is still my favorite hobby and I have no problems with buying something, enjoying it for awhile and then donating it. I am finally at that point in which I don’t have a problem with re-donating things when I am done with them.

So, it’s been very rare that I just buy something because I liked it without knowing what I am going to do with it.

But, I did just that a couple of weeks ago when I spotted and was drawn to this large milk glass bottle/jug thing.

It’s about 12 inches tall. And I have no idea what I am going to do with it. LOL

I just really liked it for some reason.

It was $1.49 at Goodwill. So, for now, It is going to stick around and adorn a bookcase shelf. I will live with it for some time and then we will see.

Have you purchased something that for whatever reason just caught your eye and you had no idea what you were going to do with it?

Linda and I are happy you decided to join us today. And we look forward to seeing your thriftiness this week!

Linda and I want to remind you to please link back to this party on the blog post you link up with. And we would love for you to be a follower of both of our blogs (here’s Linda’s).

We both also feature different party links on our blog’s fan page. so, head over and like them both when you get a chance please!

  1. The milk jug is really really cute!! It would be fun in the midst of some blue and white dishes. Or for serving milk/cream at the table. But...I don't think it would be fun to wash the milk/cream from the inside. So...that's not too practical. ;) Have fun with your great find!

  2. I really have been organizing and decluttering but then came one of my favorite holidays and I pulled out SO MUCH STUFF! It is time to thin out before I pack it ALL away again.

There are some things that call to me. I just know I will regret passing them by.

  4. I love the milk bottle, too and it would look cute with a country vignette. I've definitely had to start asking those hard questions, too. I don't like my house to look cluttered....but I like to thrift shop. So I'm trying to be more selective! Sweet hugs!

  8. I have Diann. And there is always a moment when that item becomes EXACTLY what you were looking for. Usually right after I have given it away. :(

  10. Diann that milk jug is the kind of thing that calls my name also. As you can see in today's post I bought some things at the thrift store and I'm so happy. I am still purging and organizing and feeling so good about it. Like you I will always thrift shop but on a much smaller scale. Hugs, Linda

  11. LOve that milk bottle. You could put a couple stems of flowers in it??? Or maybe use it for milk as intended.

  13. Diann, Linda, thank you so much for hosting. I am loving the bottle. Do you think it originally held milk? I am visualizing the ways the milk might have peen put into the bottle. LOL!
Love the little birdie. I can see forced blooming branches this spring on a window sill.
    Have a blessed week, Ginger

  15. Oh yes, I've done that too. That's why I have a booth at an antique mall, to help get back the $ I spend on "why did I buy that" stuff, lol. I'm soon going to try eBay too, see if that does better. Nice of you to donate it back, much quicker and less hassle, too, I'm sure! Thanks for hosting - Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com

  16. Diann, The answer to your question is "all the time". Like the two little milk bottle salt and pepper shakers I bought this week (they are in such a cute little white wire carrier). Oh my, they would go very nicely with your milk bottle for a lovely country breakfast tablescape.
