Thrifty Things Friday #111

Hi everyone!

I’m so glad you are here today to join Linda and I for this week’s TTF party!

TTF CoHost 1

Last night Troy and I stopped at Salvation Army. We always look for things for our business and Troy grabbed a nice cooler and I found a rolling cart thing that will help load and unload at Farmer’s Markets. Neither of them were crazy priced, the cooler was $9.99 and the cart thing was $6.99. These prices were still a little high to us. However, while shopping we heard them announce that it was Karaoke Night! Yup, if you went up front and took the store mic and sang a couple of lines from a song, you could have any item for 50% off.

Troy, bless his soul, has no problems what so ever singing in public! Me? I’m not sure SA has the kind of insurance to cover all the busted eardrums if I sang! So, Troy sang “Ring of Fire” for my cart and then sang “King of the road” for his cooler. People were coming up to him asking if he would sing for one of their purchases! LOL

So, we got those two items for half off and I picked up some other things. One of which is below.

One of many things Linda and I have in common is a love of old vintage aluminum serving pieces. We just can’t seem to pass them up when we find them at a thrifty price!

When I spotted this aluminum tray at SA I snatched it up.

I couldn’t pass up the fun pinecone design!

And the price was just perfect! There are scratches but, some will buff out and the rest just shows it’s age. Don’t we all! LOL I am using it right now to hold a large glass candle jar.

I wrote a post a couple of years ago regarding cleaning thrifted vintage aluminum. If you want to check that out, here it is.

I like vintage aluminum because it is:

  • Lightweight
  • inexpensive
  • easy to keep clean
  • comes in fun designs

And they even make nice tiered serving dishes.

Remember to add a link on your post to this party! We only feature posts that have the link to this party on your post and/or the party button on your post.

Okay, it’s time to bring on your thriftiness!

  8. Oh my gosh, that's funny! Singing for your thrift finds is a great idea! (Maybe we should all turn up garage sales, SA's, etc and give it a shot!)

    Have a great weekend! Julia
