Thrifty Things Friday #97

Hi Friends!
Brass has been used in cookware, musical instruments and home décor for many, many years. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s it was a huge home décor metal. But, then, as all things, it went out of style.
Now brass is making a big comeback. It is a beautiful metal to warm up your home.
I found these brass napkin rings at a thrift store. I didn’t have any brass napkin rings so, I was pretty excited to find them.
They were at $2.99 for the set of six. And then they were half off that price. So, for $1.49, they came home with me.
I love the hammered design on them.

Never use silver polish to clean brass! They are two very different metals. Cleaning silver is actually really easy. I have been using the same brass cleaning product since I bought my first brass item.
Here it is…..
Yes, that is correct…Taco Bell taco sauce. I actually keep these little extra leftover packets in my cleaning supplies.
Ketchup works as well. They both have the acidity needed to clean brass. And you don’t need to worry about toxic chemicals.
So don’t throw out those leftover packets! Keep them for cleaning your brass things.
Now, let’s see your thriftiness!
