Last year, I taught Lia how to make the basic paper chains. She had just turned four. She did a wonderful job cutting and gluing!

A Little Lia Update:

I have gotten so many kind and sweet emails from so many of you asking how Lia is doing and how the whole “process” is coming along. I apologize for the lack of information. To be completely honest, getting through this past holiday season just took every ounce of energy I could muster. It is not a holiday season I ever want to repeat!

As I am sure most of you know, the court system is pathetic when it comes to time management. Immediately after Lia was taken, we hired an Appeals attorney. He requested the transcripts of the trial and the subsequent and fraudulent  kidnapping sanctioned by Susan Hubbard (sorry, that is the only way I can describe that horrid event). We even paid extra to have the transcripts sent out faster.

Since our Appeal Attorney wanted to, at the very least, get our appeal on the docket as soon as possible he sent in the paperwork to do just that. Of course he did it with a request for “Motion to Stay and Reversal of Judgment”. We knew that nothing was actually going to come of this but, the important part was to get it entered into the Appeals Court.

About a month after that we received a notice from the Appeals Court stating they were denying the immediate motion to stay and reversal due to the fact that the transcripts weren’t included. We knew that was going to happen because, even I know that judges can’t make a decision without supporting information. That wasn’t the point of the brief being sent in. We just wanted it to get in the court docket line faster. And it did that. However, a happy surprise was included in the returned decision by the judges. They declared that this was an emergency situation.

What did that mean? It means that as soon as the transcripts arrive and a new full and complete brief is submitted from us, this case would be put much further up the line of cases in the Appeals court. Our idea of fast and their idea of fast are two different things but, it was still much welcomed news for us.

Lia has been gone 3 months from today. I swear, it feels like a year to me! The transcripts finally came in! Woohoo! How ridiculously slow is that? Any way, our Appeal attorney is going over them and creating his brief as we speak. He sent us a copy of the transcripts as well (a huge amount of papers!) so that we can go through it and then have a sit down meeting with him to make sure we cover everything.

So, that is where we are in the whole legal part of this case.

We have been able to talk to Lia a few times on the phone. She is alive and seems okay. I can hear a difference in her manner of speaking and tone of her voice which makes me sad. However, a couple of times I was able to get her to giggle and I heard that beautiful shining light inside of her and that just made my heart soar!

Sadly, after a recent change of when we could talk to Lia, the phone calls are no longer being received. We desperately tried to call several times at the designated time this week and the phone has been either set to block our calls, the number has been disconnected or the bill wasn’t paid. I have no idea which one is the case. We have also tried several times to text and email. Both of which have been ignored.

How odd is it that I am hoping that we are either blocked or the bills were not paid. Because the alternative is too frightening to think about! What has happened to Lia? What bad or sad event has occurred? What is going on in Lia’s life that is too awful for us to hear about?  I pray, pray, pray that she is fine! As long as we were able to hear her voice from time to time we knew she was at least alive and okay. Not in a hospital or something worse. Now, not being able to hear her, naturally makes are minds go to horrific places.

I know that many of you continue to keep us in your prayers and that Lia is being thought about a lot. I ask that you please continue these prayers for her. She needs all of your strength and positive thoughts. We do too but, I am much more worried about Lia than anything else.

Troy and I appreciate all of your concerns, good and positive thoughts and most of all your prayers! Honestly, I have said it several times but, it can’t be said enough, it really is what keeps me going on a daily basis. I can genuinely feel your prayers. It fills my heart! I am continually amazed at how fortunate and blessed I am to have so many of you out there sending love and prayers my way. I cry every time I think about it! But, it is a good cry!

Okay, I am going to try to breath again and continue with some more Valentine past pictures.

  1. Dear sweet lady...you do not deserve this and most importantly that sweet girl does not. I will pray and send tons of good energy your way (and I swear you need to call Nancy Grace and out this situation!).

  2. Oh Diann this is just so hard! I pray everyday for Lia and that she is OK! I know that is your biggest fear and without the phone calls it's magnified! Please let us know of any changes. I am praying that the courts will move faster but our system does not seem designed to do that. I know you and Troy have each other and your family to lean on...know you have so many blogging friends out here also. Big Hugs, Linda

  5. Lovely photos, Diann. I love the pink roses.

Your experience with Lia is truly heart-rendering. When I think about it, my heart is immensely sad.

How the court system could do that to an innocent child, who was loved, nurtured and cared for since infancy, is beyond my comprehension.

Like you, I just pray that she is safe and okay. I can only imagine the psychological impact of being wrenched from the only mother and father she ever knew.

With all my heart, I pray that things can turn around and that she can be returned to you. That's all we can do is hope and pray.

There is great power in prayer, though, so that gives me hope, Diann. With many MANY people praying, the mountain could be moved.

In the meantime, I wish you my very best and, of course, the best to the little precious angel, Lia. Susan
