Thrifty Things Friday #77

Hi everyone!

happythumb

Remember my TTF post from last week showing you some new thrifted finds that I plan to use to decorate a blank wall in my living room? Here is that post.

Well, I have it all decorated and Autumn-ized.

I used a mirror I bought at a yard sale for $2.00 and my .79 cent shelf from Tried and True thrift store. I know this is a real standard layout for the wall items. But, there is not much room on this wall. It goes from the corner to our doorwall.  And that doorwall starts right at the edge on the left hand side of the above picture.

Added my doodad things from last week’s TTF party and just a tad of Fall things.

As you can tell, I really like different textures, colors and even different woods and metals mixed together. I think it draws the eye to all the different elements. I don’t do matchy matchy very well.

I had several people last week email me regarding this jar. I am not sure what it is made of. It is some type of resin. It is fairly heavy. And yup, I agree, it looks a lot like a pumpkin. That was the reason I bought it.

There you have it. The entire wall done for just under $8.00 and that includes all the candles and Fall accessories which were also all thrifted.

What is so fun about buying all of these things so cheap is at any point when I say to myself, “Hum, that mirror would look nice if it was silver framed” or “ I need a black shelf, I think I will paint that one” I don’t feel bad about totally redoing it over and over. If it doesn’t turn out, I am not out a lot of money!

Let’s check out some fun posts from last week.

  8. You did a great job! And yes, and that price you can play with different finishes, etc
I think it looks very warm and welcoming.
Well, I hung the Fall wreath above the fireplace, but that's it!
Until I have to put a sweater on outside, it doesn't feel like Fall. I am still using the outdoor shower!
    Have a great weekend!
    Thanks for hosting!

  12. It's a challenge to buy something that we know we can completely transform, Diann! You're right- even if we have to re-do it if it doesn't turn out right the first time, we're not out a lot of bucks. Thanks for hosting the linky party. Glad I could join up this week. :-) Sue
