The Dining Room Chair

I am so happy to be guest posting at The Thrifty Groove, I follow this blog regularly. I’d like to thank Diann for the opportunity.

For this, my first guest post, I thought it would be a good idea to show you a very thrifty project I did over the weekend to an extra chair that is in our dining room. During the revamp I added an applique to the back to give it an elegant flair; I think it is a nice touch, as well as change the color and recover the seat.

This chair used to be yellow/gold as you can see in the before picture and I felt it needed a change. I used Annie Sloan paint in a new color they came out with named Coco, I love the color.

I had this script French fabric in my pile of fabrics and thought this would add an elegant touch to the rest of the room. After the painting, I waxed the chair with the clear wax and then the dark wax. The wax application really does make a difference; it gives the chair dimension.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and will stop and visit me at www.clochesandlavender.com and see all the neat projects I have done over the years in my home.

  1. Love the chair! The new chalk paint color is wonderful also. I just bought both waxes to use on a table I painted. I was going to use the dark first. Glad I saw this. I will use clear first now. I think it will keep the dark from grabbing so much. Forgot to mention that the French script adds just the right touch.
