Guest Blogger~Jann!

Hi everyone!

I want to introduce you to todays Guest Blogger Star…..

Have a Daily Cup with Mrs. Olsen

I’m sure a lot of you already know her but, do you know her staff? Let’s meet them!

Take it away Jann!

Hi,  I’m Jann from Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson.

I am honored to be the guest host for Diann today.

If you know Diann, you know that she is all about being thrifty.

As many of you know, hiring someone to help you with yard work can be quite expensive.

I’ve come up with a solution that works quite well for me.

I enlist my grandchildren for help. You could do the same with your own children. I know what your thinking, “It’s just easier to do it myself than to listen to them moan”.

The trick is to start them young.

This is my 2 1/2 yr. old grand daughter, Say dee. As you can see, she is more than happy to fill this pot with water to soak my moss for lining baskets.

And look at her spread that mulch.

Once in a while I find that the heavy equipment may be a little more than they can handle. That’s when pint sized tools come in handy. This rake was a $1 thrift store find.

These little ones are perfect for telling you whether or not a flower smells ‘purdy’.

And hauling objects laying around the yard to the trash.

Look at Jack, he’s testing the water in the pondless waterfall to see if it’s up to par. I see another Engineer in the family. His daddy, grandpa, and great grandpa are all Engineers.

That smile let’s me know that it’s A O.K Grandma!

And the best part is, sometimes you don’t even have to pay them in cash. A handful of M & M’s will do the trick.

Is that being thrifty or what?

  1. Cutest kids around! Cute post!

  2. I am with you on this Jann...teach them to do chores while they are young :):):) I am trying to teach my 8 year old g.daughter to use napkins instead of her clothes.LOL. Smiles to all of you, Susie

  3. Jann, just adorable grandkids! Start them early on gardening, it's a great hobby!

  4. Too cute!!! :D You have some great helpers in the garden. And their labor is cheap, too! ;P

  5. What a sweet post! The grands are so cute - I often pay mine for gathering up the pesky pine cones that fall from the neighbor's tree. They love it!

  6. Pretty thrifty AND pretty darned cute, too. They are just darling- xo Diana

  7. I say it is,and they are so gorgeous too. xx

  8. What a sweet post - and I love the payment with candy. hehehe Maybe that's why I could never get my own kids to do chores. I didn't have the right incentive.

  9. Well, Jann's grandchildren are quite the little darlings! I'm glad she had this wonderful help!! I LOVE the pondless waterfall and would LOVE to find out about it.
    Very beautiful and SWEET post!
