My Birthday Teacup

Hi everyone!

Yes, my birthday was a couple of weeks ago but, I just haven’t had the time to do a pretty tea for you in awhile so, you haven’t seen my birthday teacup from Troy.

Troy gets me a new teacup every year for my birthday. He tries to find one that is not only pretty but, one that is different from any of my others.

This is the one he found for me this year.

Autumn 2011 056The beautiful gold floral design on the off white bone china is so pretty And then the added pale green is just a lovely touch of color.

Autumn 2011 058Autumn 2011 059This is my first piece of Colclough China. I had to do a little research t check out the company.

Colclough China company is famous for its pottery and porcelain ware. Founded in 1890 by Herbert Joseph Colclough, the company has undergone a series of name changes and mergers (Ridgway, Adderley, Booths & Colclough Company Ltd. and Ridgway Potteries Ltd) before it finalized on ’Colclough China Company Limited’ in 1937. It was the first company that manufactured dinner as well as tea ware, and today it stands as an indispensable item in most households. The company received the royal license to manufacture the Royal Vale china in 1913 and has gained world wide recognition for its bone china and other ware. The Colclough China Company was one of the first companies to produce fine bone china in the everyday market and these were sold individually rather than in sets. The company ceased production in 1996.

I am also using a new to me teapot. I found this one at a Lions Thrift Store. It has no maker on the bottom, just some numbers.

Autumn 2011 060I thought the creamy off white and pretty gold details worked well with my new teacup.

Autumn 2011 061Love the design and the lovely aged crazing going on.

Autumn 2011 064Autumn 2011 065The pretty gold votive holders has a yummy warm vanilla candle burning.

Autumn 2011 066Autumn 2011 067Vintage glass creamer and sugar bowl.

Autumn 2011 069If you are a tea lover, you are probably like me and have several tea boxes or tea tins.

Autumn 2011 071This is my bamboo tea box. Troy bought it for me a couple of Christmas’s ago.  It was filled with wonderful fruit flavored teas. I continue to fill it with fruit teas. So, this tea box is designated for fruit teas.

Autumn 2011 073I thought we could have an almond poppy seed muffin with our peach tea. Autumn 2011 074

Autumn 2011 079

“Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art… It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival.” C.S. Lewis

Autumn 2011 080

I decided to use a few of C.S. Lewis quotes regarding friendship throughout this post. Having tea with friends is one of life’s most simple pleasures in my opinion.

Autumn 2011 076This was my segue into cooler weather tea settings. It is pear season right now and I thought that was the perfect fruit to add to our teascape. I love layering lots of fun darker and warmer textures to our tea today. Lots of pretty natural and richer color tones.

I hope you enjoyed stopping by for tea with me today! Have a wonderful day!
