A Fall Flower Gift

Hi everyone!

If you follow this blog, you have heard me talk about the fact that we volunteer with a local high school in their agricultural program. This is an amazing program. The students grow their own veggies, herbs and flowers. They sell them at the Farmer’s Market. And they have their own in school floral shop that they design and sell flowers or arrangements to the public. These students are amazing and so fun to work with.

Last year, in the fall, the students made up pumpkin floral arrangements and sold them. They made me this one.

Fall centerpiece 002This year, one of the new to the program young ladies tried her hand at using gourds to make flower arrangements to sell at the market. It is so sweet to see these young women with their creations. They are so nervous that people won’t like them and then when one of their arrangements sell, they are so excited!

The newest young lady to the program made me this floral arrangement. I just love them! I know part of it is because I know how much time and effort the girls put into making them.

Autumn 2011 046They are made with all the flowers that they grow themselves and of course the gourds they grew as well.

Autumn 2011 047I decided to stack some of my bargain holiday books and then place the gourd arrangement on top.

Autumn 2011 048A couple of thrifted brass candlesticks with dark brown weave candles (clearanced at Michaels)  kept this a simple tabletop

Autumn 2011 049The flowers are so vibrant and lovely!

Autumn 2011 051The gourd has a few nicks but, that is nature for you.

Autumn 2011 054I really like the simplicity of this little Autumn table top.

Thank you ladies for this beautiful Fall arrangement!

  8. I just LOVE your blog (I'm a follower) you find and use the neatest things! The school where I work also have a fantastic Floral (AG) dept. and the students do very well with their floral arrangements and greenhouse produce. The community as well as the staff here use them for our seasonal arrnagements. They do the Pumpkin arrangements each fall and we all look so forward to them.
    Have a great day!
