A Small Summer Dish display

Hi everyone!

After spending way too many hours visiting folks that joined the Tablescaper’s “Where do you keep it all” party, it really made me think about all those little areas that dishes and whatnots get displayed in my home. I have to confess, I don’t display as much as most of you do it seems. I live in a small townhouse and just don’t have the room for lots of gorgeous hutches and china cabinets (yes, I am very envious of many of you! LOL). I have one small china cabinet at the top of our stairs that holds my teapots but, other than that, I have no other cabinets that hold dishes beside, everyday kitchen cabinets in my home.

I do, however, like to use plate racks here and there to show some pretty dishes. They get switched out often because I either get bored (my attention span is about as long as my 3 yr. old’s) or because I found some new beauties I want to be able to enjoy.

I recently showed a new to me plate rack that was acquired FREE on this post.

TTF 7 Bargains 010After scrubbing it I decided to live with it as it is, meaning no new paint job. Which was very difficult believe me. Once you get into the whole spray painting mojo it is hard to put on the brakes! You want to spray paint everything!

I really love my new clearanced tulip plates I got from The Christmas Tree Shops. The ones I used for my 1st Thrifty Tablescape party.  They are just so pretty and say Spring/Summer to me. Not to mention, they make me smile so, I want to see them!

June TT 007I have one dark brick wall in my dining room. And I thought these displayed on that wall would really pop. And I just wanted some color on that wall. So, that is where I chose to use my new plate rack and these new dishes.

misc 108I couldn’t figure out what to put in the center rack. I couldn’t display the new matching bowls and I didn’t want to have it off by using a dinner plate or salad plate. I found these new colored bamboo placemats recently at the CTS. I have to admit, I bought 4 of every color they had (purple, red, natural, orange, yellow and green). And no, they were not clearanced! Whoa…say what?! Diann almost NEVER buys full retail price. What is up with that???

misc 111 That’s right! Only .59 cents each! You gotta love cheaper than the Dollar Stores! And these are such great mats for the summer. I was only going to buy a couple of colors but, changed my mind and I am glad I did. I went back up to CTS a few days later and only one red placemat was left. Of course these are going to go fast. So, I was happy I got all of the colors when I did.

misc 109So, I thought adding two sets of the placemats that matched (actually all but the purple placemats match this set) looks pretty displayed with the plates. And when I want to use this set, I have placemats right at the ready! Love that!

So, this is one of my few displayed dish storage. I love the fact that the rack was just a curbside freebie. Recycling at it’s best!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed your visit. I know I loved having you here! Have a fantastic day!

And I hope to see you join me for this week’s Thrifty Things Friday Linky party!

The rack and plates look great, and a smart idea with the place mats in the middle! Now it's about the parking lot at CTS! Ours is never empty!
