Maple Syrup Festival Vendors

Hi everyone!

Today I thought I would share some of the arts and crafts vendors that were at the Maple Syrup Festival this past weekend. I didn’t get to all the different booths but, here are a couple I did visit.

I talked to the guy who makes all of these cool lawn art pieces. He said he started making his things when his grandfather had died. His grandfather had a huge old barn and it was filled with just odds and ends stuff. None of his other family members wanted to deal with grandpa’s “junk”. So, he started playing around with things. He now buys old barn “junk” to create his pieces.

The vendor next to this guy had some fun things too.

maple festival 2011 039Throughout this past winter, I have been collecting old odds and ends flatware when I saw it super cheap to make some windchimes. I am going to add a few more elements to mine though.

maple festival 2011 041Pop bottle humming bird feeders. Now, you won’t see me make any of these! Me and humming birds do not get along. I was attacked by one! That’s right, attacked I say! One flew right into my hair and decided to create a nest! I have long hair and the thing kept fluttering in my hair. I was freaking out while my family sat around me and laugh themselves silly! Oh no, there will be NO humming bird feeders at my house!

Here is a few pictures of some of the vendors that were inside the school (that’s where we were).

maple festival 2011 019maple festival 2011 020maple festival 2011 021This last picture is of a huge tent set up outside right next to the cafeteria where they spent all day making pancakes for the all your can eat pancake meal. This picture was taken before they starting cooking for the day. Over on the left hand side, you can see all the huge griddles being used. Once the day began, those griddles stayed busy all day!

maple festival 2011 017These were just a few pictures of the area around the school where they served the pancakes. Up on main street, the whole town of Shepard was closed off and all kinds of vendors were up there too. I didn’t get a chance to make it up there. that would be the downside of working at a festival, you don’t have any time to check everything out.

I hope you enjoyed visiting a little bit of the Maple Syrup Festival with me.
