Sour Cream Noodle Bake by PW!


Hi everyone!


Today we have a cooking challenge from Lynn at Happier than a Pig in Mud.


truffles 005It was a challenge to cook/bake a recipe from fellow blogger/author Ree Drummond. Ree’s blog, The Pioneer Woman is a favorite blog of mine and a gazillion other people! If you haven’t visited her, I recommend you do!


Today I made PW’s Sour Cream Noodle Bake!


Here is the recipe:


Ingredients


  • 1-¼ pound Ground Chuck
  • 1 can 15-ounces Tomato Sauce
  • ½ teaspoons Salt
  • Freshly Ground Black Pepper
  • 8 ounces, weight Egg Noodles
  • ½ cups Sour Cream
  • 1-¼ cup Small Curd Cottage Cheese
  • ½ cups Sliced Green Onions (less To Taste)
  • 1 cup Grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Brown ground chuck in a large skillet. Drain fat, then add tomato sauce. 1/2 teaspoon salt and plenty of freshly ground black pepper. Stir, then simmer while you prepare the other ingredients.

Cook egg noodles until al dente. Drain and set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine sour cream and cottage cheese. Add plenty of freshly ground black pepper. Add to noodles and stir. Add green onions and stir.

recipes 042recipes 054At this point, Ree was so right when she said just the noodles and sauce mixed together is delish!

To assemble, add half of the noodles to a baking dish. Top with half the meat mixture, then sprinkle on half the grated cheddar. Repeat with noodles, meat, then a final layer of cheese.

Bake for 20 minutes, or until all cheese is melted.

This is a pretty easy recipe and sooooooo YUMMY!

This definitely is going to be a regular around this house!! It includes all my favorite things!


recipes 061I decided to serve it with a salad and corn muffins. really, for me, my main reason for making cornbread or cornbread muffins is because I love them with butter and honey! And our honey comes from a local beekeeper who is a friend that we met through the Farm Markets we do in the summer.

  5. OMGosh..this looks absolutely amazing. I haven't made this one and I LOVE casseroles with ground beef (not much on ones with chicken). Gonna make this one, for sure. Hope it looks as good as yours. :)))
