Easter Day

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. We had an amazing day filled with love, laughter and silliness! I thought I would share with you some of our Easter day.

I don’t buy the princess Easter baskets. Instead I like to find something to use as a basket that she can then play with or use afterwards. A couple of months ago I spotted this red plastic wheelbarrow at a thrift store and knew it would be perfect for her Easter “basket”. It still had the original price tag on and it was obvious that it had never been played with. And it was only $1.00! I knew the princess would love it because she so enjoys helping us outside in the gardens.

Easter Day 2011 038

I had been picking up little odds and ends since Christmas when I saw them clearanced to fill her wheelbarrow. Oh, Lynn, the Easter bunny brought me the prettiest amethyst and silver earrings! LOL

Easter Day 2011 047The Easter Bunny, according to the princess, came to our house and did a tablescape! LOL Yup, this poor little girl is getting a slightly skewed view of things!

Easter Day 2011 039Easter Day 2011 040   For some reason, she was really excited about the Easter bunny’s special tablecloth and matching plates and napkins. I think because it is rare to have these paper items here.

Easter Day 2011 045-tileEaster Day 2011 044-tileWe had dinner at my brother’s house later in the day. So, I made a chocolate cake, Shrimp Cocktail Dip (will be my recipe of the week), Creamy Chicken Pasta Salad and a Sugar free layered coconut cream cheesecake (next week recipe of the week).

Here is my chocolate cake.

Easter Day 2011 055Okay, something to keep in mind, the princess is the only child and only girl in my family. My brother’s youngest son is 15 years old so, princess is one spoiled loved and cherished little girl.   My brother and nephews had filled a bunch of plastic Easter eggs with change and little trinkets and hid them throughout the backyard. Of course, they also got her an Easter basket filled with all kinds of treasures as well. So, she was excited that the Easter Bunny had been at “Uncle Hunny’s” house too! (That is what she calls my brother, “Uncle Hunny”). I’m not sure who had more fun, the princess or the adults!

Easter Day 2011 021Easter Day 2011 026Easter Day 2011 027She had to open each egg as she found them. And then tell us what each one had in it. This egg hunt took quite a long time!

Dinner consisted of:

BBQ chicken

Sausage & sauerkraut

Steamed Walleye

Cheesy potatoes

Green bean casserole

Creamy chicken pasta salad

Shrimp cocktail dip

Veggie tray and dip

Chocolate cake

Sugar free layered coconut cream cheesecake

Easter Day 2011 033-tileThis was AFTER we all ate! Guess what all of us will be eating for the next couple of days? One thing that we all do whenever we go over to each other’s house is bring empty Tupperware containers with us!

That was a glimpse into our Easter. Thank you all for stopping by!

  1. Looks like you had a great Easter Diann! I'm so glad the Easter Bunny came through and got you those earrings:@) Did she remember the phone call?

  2. WoW!! That is some food! And your princess is one lucky girl! I had to laugh when you said she had to stop and open each egg...my almost 2 year old grandson had to shake every one of them and we had a bunch of jelly beans and coins all over the yard! My 3 year old grandson (the chocoholic) was beside himself with eggs that had "chocolate" in them and the 5 year old granddaughter just wanted the money...lol such a girl!!
