Tip of the Week #5

You know when you are out thrifting and you find the cutest holiday item but, that holiday is long past. You really want it but, seriously don’t want to deal with it. I keep a box on the floor in our coat closet that is for thrifty seasonal items I find throughout the year.

tip of the week 007

Who has the time to search out a Christmas box that is all packed up and put away just to add an item to the box here and there? Nobody, that’s who! LOL So, that is why I have my seasonal box easily accessible. Each holiday that rolls round, I check in the box to see if I have any new items for that holiday and then they can be used and put away with the other things after the holiday. And of course if I am bored and want to dig around and find the appropriate box, I will put it away then. Oh, who am I kidding? I NEVER have time to get bored! LOL

tip of the week 008 To be honest, this box generally gets filled up by the middle of summer so, I really do have to empty it into the matching holiday boxes I have stored. But, for me, this system works and is super simple and yes, probably quite lazy. :)

  3. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I can't tell you how many times I've thought "I so want that, but I am NOT keeping up with that all year!"

  4. I have a system similar to that for miscellaneous presents that I find throughout the year! I have a few boxes that diapers came in that I hide my kids Easter, Birthday and Christmas presents in throughout the year! I had my husband to make another shelf above my washer and dryer just for my boxes. Then all I have to do is take a box down and put something in it. When I need something it's easy to get to. The great part is that in all the years I've been doing this my kids have never discovered my secret! My daughter is 13 and my son is 6.

  13. Now THAT is so clever of you and I so appreciate you sharing this tip, because honestly after the holidays I see wonderful deals but just don't want to deal with putting them away away because I'm already SO DONE with whatever holiday it is that I pack it up and put it away immediately and personally don't want to look at any of it for another year. GREAT tip, thank you, now I may just buy some of those after holiday goodies. ;)
