A Few Vintage Thrift Finds

Hi everyone!

A couple of weeks ago I was able to do little thrifting. I have been trying to just go out every other week to look for treasures. I am planning on hitting our local thrift store this coming Saturday. not only do I have a couple of large bags of things to donate but, it is the first Saturday of the month which means everything in the store is 50% off. Woohoo!

Here are a few vintage/retro/groovy things I picked up recently.

This wicker tray has a handpainted scene. It was .95 cents. I bought a similar one last summer but larger. I really used and enjoyed the one I got before for outside parties। I think the bright colors are what make them fun to use. And I use trays everyday, so having a fun variety makes me happy.

I haven’t cleaned it yet.

Jan Bargains 2011 111 Next up is this fun retro cheese tray.

Jan Bargains 2011 112 It was marked $3.99 but, I got it for $1.00. I love how thick the wood is. Needless to say, it is rather heavy.

Jan Bargains 2011 113 Here is the ceramic plate insert.

Jan Bargains 2011 114 I search all over the internet trying to find any info on this company but, came up empty. If anyone knows anything about Jerry Abrams, please let me know.

Jan Bargains 2011 115 I love coffee carafes, especially retro ones. I have several that I use pretty regularly. I love to have coffee at the table and in some kind of fun carafe. Troy and I have found that if we have coffee at the dinner table, we tend to linger a bit more. It slows down our evening. And we talk and just enjoy the moment. Weird huh?

I spotted this vintage percolator and thought that not only would it be fun to brew the coffee in but, once the coffee was done, it could go straight to the table.

Jan Bargains 2011 116 Jan Bargains 2011 117 It was .90 cents and in perfect condition. We have already used it twice.

Jan Bargains 2011 118 And last but, not least, I got this wood tray (Yup, another tray). It was pretty dirty but, I liked the wood and the shape of it.I didn’t have one like this.

Jan Bargains 2011 119 For .60 cents, it came home with me.

Jan Bargains 2011 121 It was made in Denmark but, I can’t make out the company.

Jan Bargains 2011 120 After a little cleaning and some wood polish it looks better but, I still can’t get the black marker off. bummer.

Jan Bargains 2011 122 Well, those were my little retro/vintage thrift finds. Have you found any fun things lately?

  12. Oh, I remember cheese trays like that. We have really enjoyed our cheese this winter. If you have a Costco, get their Manchego cheese - it is a dry Manchego and is so fabulous and nutty and also very mild.

  20. I agree with Sherry that your tray may well be a Dansk Design.

  21. Great finds, I really like the wicker tray, it is so much fun. I don't know anything about Jerry Abrams but Commack is here on Long Island, not far from me. That piqued my curiosity, so I googled it and apparently the company is now Fernanda Mfg and has moved to Hauppauge, close to Commack. The website it listed was non-existant though.
