Awesome Review and Giveaway!!

Those of you who know me probably know that I have very little patience with electronic gimmicks and all those little technology things that say they will make your life easier, your computer faster, and your cell phone work better. There is usually no way of knowing if they actually did anything or not.

So, at first I was skeptical when I was offered a chance to do a product review and giveaway for the Cell Ranger Stix Signal Booster from the RepeaterStore.

It doesn't look like much huh? You just wait and read on!

I wasn’t quite sure what it was supposed to do, and wasn’t quite sure how I would know if it did it.

But I read the information on the website, and determined that it was supposed to make my cell phone signal stronger, and improve reception.

Around home we don’t have too much trouble. We live in a fairly populated area, between two major metropolitan areas, so our cell phone coverage in this corner of the state is usually pretty good.

But when we get away from home, we notice a big difference real fast.

Cell phone coverage at the campground where we park our trailer is real spotty, and at my parents cabin, in the northern part of the state, it is even worse. Keep in mind that this cabin is back in the woods, miles from the nearest town.

This summer at the cabin, if I wanted to make a phone call, I would have to take my phone and go for a walk. I needed to stand in the middle of a clearing, preferably on top of a small hill, and hold my head at just the right angle. Then, sometimes it would work, and sometimes there was so much static on the line that it was impossible to have a conversation. It kind of depended on the weather that day.

So I was really anxious to see how a cell phone signal booster would work there.

On a cloudy day, with just a little snow falling, in a clearing, the phone showed one line. The directions for the Cell Ranger Stix said to stretch the wire out so the antenna was as far away as possible from the receiver, but for the first trial It was left all coiled up.

After waiting five seconds, like it said in the instructions the phone had 3 lines, a quick phone call confirmed that the phone worked, and much better than it had without the Cell Ranger, but there was some buzzing and whistling on the line. Not enough to prevent conversation, but enough to be annoying.

The next test was done the next day
with the cable stretched out, like the instructions say. After five seconds the phone showed the maximum number of lines. Conversations were clear, with no interference, It sounded just like a phone call does from the middle of our metro area, where there is plenty of cell coverage.

So, how does it work?

The Cell Ranger Stix works, not as an antenna booster, but as a signal repeater. What this means, in basic terms, is it locks onto the phone signal, and then acts like a mini cell tower, amplifying the signal.

This is exciting, because it means we will finally have steady dependable phone service at the cabin. And we didn’t have to pay the thousands of dollars to have the phone company bring in a phone line.

My dad was so impressed with this, and believe me, my dad doesn't get impressed easily, he said that just for the assurance of having cell coverage at the cabin made this an incrediable bargain! Not too mention my brothers and nephews. We all have different phone companies and this boosted EVERYONES cell signal!

The Cell Ranger Stix can be purchased at the RepeaterStore right now for $129.00. It is a regular MSRP of $149.00.

  26. I'm a follower of the Thrifty Groove and would love to win this. Grampy and I are both getting up in years. We want to take what will probably be our last extended trip this spring. This would make me feel much more secure traveling through the mountains in Arizona. Thanks for offering it.

  27. Am I too late for this? What a fabulous give away. Your description of going for a walk with your cell phone was just like what we do when we go to our trailer in the middle of nowhere. It really is kind of funny - unless I'm worried about getting in touch with someone. This is a great idea! If I'm not too late, please enter me in the drawing. Of course, I am a follower. laurie
