A Thrifty Halloween Throwdown!

That's what I said...A Halloween Throwdown is happening here at Casa Chaos (aka TTG)!

Normally I don't do a lot of Halloween decorating. However, now that the Princess is getting a little older and notices all the things in the house, I thought I would add some Halloween decor here and there. She really does get excited to see fun different decorations.

But, I am challenging myself. Yup, this is where the throwdown part comes in.

I have no desire to spend a lot of money on Halloween decor. I have some stuff that I will use but, as far as buying new stuff? I don't have the money or desire to do that. So, I am challenging myself to spend no more that a total of $10.00 on all my Halloween decor. That will include any craft materials needed to make any items.

So, I need to get my creative juices flowing and scavenge what I have around the house to use instead of buying things.

So, are you ready for a Thrifty Halloween Throwdown Challenge?

  1. YES! Love it! I don't spend much on Halloween items at all. I mostly do 'fall' but I think it will be fun to see what you can do!!

  2. I am ready to see what you come up with.
I don't spend much on decorations either.
I rotate them around a lot.
    Have a great day

  3. Absolutely!.. Can't wait to see what you come up with Diann!.. Have a nice evening! ~tina

  4. I know that whatever you come up with will be fabulous.

  5. I have wayyyyyyyyy too much stuff. Last winter is when I found blogs, and I must have thought I didn't have any fall decorations. Plus you know they were on sale in the winter. The only thing I've bought are good smelling candles. I'm actually giving away some of my stuff to my daughter and the teachers at the school that I just retired from.

  6. Can't wait to see what you come up with. So many places to find inexpensive things.

  7. I have to say that since beginning blogging I have actually gone out to grab a few extra things I would not have - this season I have a "thing" for unusual shaped bottles to turn into potion bottles. Granted I don't spend more than 49 cents on one, but 10 of those adds up quickly. Fortunately I used to live across the street from a Target store and could be first in line for 90% off after a holiday. (My cheap runs deep.) So my storage spaces overfloweth with Halloween magic.
And bloggy inspiration for home made spookiness knows no limits. I KNOW you can stay within budget. Hint: many eerie things can be cooked up in a kitchen, and not just to eat.

I have a throwdown Halloween decor item...All you need is two wire coat hangers, a witches hat or any hat with a point, a plastic pumpkin pail and a black sheet or white, purple, dark colors are best and a rubberband.
First, drape the sheet over the hanger like a cape...gather up the neck on the neck of the coat hander and fasten with a rubber band. This is the body of your goblin. With something pointed and sharp, poke a hole in t he bottom of the pumpkin pail and stick the handle of t he wire hanger into t he h ole..Now he has a head on his shouders. Take the other hanger and stick the hanger into the point of the hat,,then pull the bottom down so that it will insert into the head or pumpkin attach inside to the hanger which is covered with the sheet...Hang by the hanger inside the hat...and you have a goblin...I'll send pics later.

Thank you for taking the time to comment! I love to hear your ideas. If you ask a question, I will answer it here in a comment back to you. Please check back! Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful day! Diann :)
