Last Summertime Table & Camp Beans Recipe

Hi everyone!

We are still camping. We keep pushing back our day to head home! The weather has been in the low 60's during the day and it has just been so peaceful and relaxing here.

I had planned on setting this table up outside at the picnic table however, it started raining and the winds really kicked up. I had a bunch of recent thrift find pretties to fancy the table up. But, I decided to go ahead and set up the little table in our trailer minus all the accessories. There just is no room for a lot at this table.

I think this is the most simple table I have ever done. LOL

Early in the Spring, or local Dollar Tree had marked down all their acrylic dishes to 2/$1.00. Then once they started getting in the new summer acrylic dishware, they marked the old stuff down to 4/$1.00. I had picked up quite a few settings to keep at our trailer and have some fun setting different tables.

I didn't buy any of the new summer dishes because I had plenty that were clearanced. However, the other day, I went to the Dollar Tree up here by our campground and they had this season's summer set marked at 2/$1.00. So, I bought a few pieces.

Here is my small tablescape in our trailer.

I started with this $1.00 bandanna. It was the perfect size for a table topper for this little table. And the wavy design reminded me of water.

The cute pink, blue and white fish plates.

The bowls. Since we aren't really going to be using these bowls as part of our dinner tonight, I am going to use them later for popcorn popped over the fire.

Matching acrylic glasses.

The little canape plates and thrifted small glass bowls. I will take the tealights out of these bowls and one will have relish and the other will have chopped onions. Guess what we are having for dinner tonight. LOL

Aren't these little ceramic fish salt and pepper shakers too cute!

Just some random pictures...

As you can already guess, tonight's dinner will be hotdogs & brats over the fire. And I am making quick campfire beans. This is what I put in my beans.

A couple cans of pork & beans, can of corn (drained), garlic powder, BBQ sauce and hot sauce. The last 3 are to taste.

Yup, I actually use enamelware pots and pans. I got this one ages ago at a thrift store.I keep my eyes peeled for them everywhere I go. It is hard to find them in good condition.

Just dump everything in the pan.

Stir

And over the fire it goes.

Dinner is cooking!

  23. Even a camping trip can be all "tablescaped up" if we put our minds to it, can't it? I love a theme. It just makes life and tables a little bit more fun.

And I have to say that your observation that the wavy pattern in that bandana made the pink look a little watery was right. I would never have notice that!

  25. You did a good job with your sale items. I've seen those same dishes, but I just can't put the ideas together. I hope I'm learning.
I also cook in enamel pots. Mine are orange. I've never tried corn in baked beans. I'll have to remember that addition.
