Lily of the Valley Tea

Hi everyone! Thank you for visiting today! I thought I would show you my Lily of the Valley teacup and saucer. I have had this set for quite awhile and no clue where I got it. But, I remember looking at it and thinking what an unusual set.

Sorry, a few of my pictures are blurry.

Here is my teacups and saucer.

Today was kind of gloomy outside so, I thought it was a good time to take a couple of "me" hours and just enjoy a cup of tea (or 2) and read.

This pretty little white, blue and gold egg came from the Family Dollar. It was clearanced to .75 cents.

The hankies and doily are from the estate sale I went to last month and got a big bunch of linens for $1.00. Still loving that thrifty find!

Last week I showed you one of my favorite glass ornaments. This is another one. These hang off my dresser year round.
I thought I would have blueberry green tea today.
And an old fashion blueberry candy stick to swirl in the tea. Here is a little history about "Old Fashion Candy sticks":

Stick candy has been around since at least the fall of 1837, when it was shown at the Exhibition of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association alongside "Lobster candy". Stick candy was popular with both children and adults in the U.S. as early as the 1860s, and the selling of this type of candy (particularly during the carnival season in the warmer months) was described as being lucrative. One contemporary account describes broken pieces of stick candy being sold in paper containers, being presented by candy sellers to rural people as something special, and commanding a high price.

I picked up some used books at a yard sale for .20 cents each. I haven't read this Linda Howard thriller yet so, I am looking forward to some quiet time to read it!

Since I plan to take a bath and soak for a little while before I enjoy my tea and book, I thought some fragrant lotion would be a nice addition to my alone time.

Isn't this just the prettiest napkin? I got a set of four of these from TJ Maxx for a clearanced price of $1.50. I just love them!

The pretty cut out detail and the little feet on the teacup are just so beautiful.

This teacup and saucer are hand painted made by Napco.

Thank you for stopping by for tea with me today. Now I hope you will go and check out these fun blog parties!

  2. You have so many beautiful linens out for tea today and I do love the blue and white napkin with the butterflies.
I have 2 different patterns of Lily of the Valley on cups and saucers but they are nowhere near as unique as yours.
Interesting about the stick candy - see it on occasion still in small stores.

Pretty napkin with a hint of blue on it, and loving the TJM napkins too. Hope you enjoyed your realxing time. I think I'll come visit you, cause you obviously know how to pamper. laurie

  13. Ha Ha, I know where that tea cup came from! We were in a little secondhand shop in Ohio, and you saw it and liked it, but it would have put you over your budget for the day.

On the way out I asked the lady to hold it for me, and on my next run through Ohio, I stopped and bought it.

You got it for Christmas that year.

does anyone know where to find this exact saucer, but with the purple flowers and small yellow ones in 4 clusters? I broke one while cleaning my boyfriend's parents restaurant and I feel awful D: I'm trying to surprise his mom by replacing it. It's proving to be way harder than I thought :/
