While Troy was in the hopital, I discovered a small restaurant that was right next door one day when I was starving and he was getting a bone scan done. One of the nurses told me about this place and it was in walking distance so, I headed to it.
It was called the White House restaurant. It is super tiny (about 8 booths inside). the grill and cook were right there next to the booths. This little restaurant has been in business and family run for a very long time and is open 24/7. they have seating outside and a court yard next to the building for more outside eating.
The food was awesome and huge portions!
Here are some pictures of the place.

Another place that I discovered while Troy was getting other tests done at the hospital was this cool thrift store. It was in an old bank and as far as I could tell it had no name. It had tons of things. Everything from tiles, furniture, lamps and even kitchen sinks! Thre were several things I wanted to get, but I knew I would have no room in the truck when we headed home. Sigh!
Here are some pictures.

I did however, stop at a garage sale on the way home to the campground one day and picked up just a couple of fun things.

A large glass painted platter for .75 cents.

Not much thrifting was done, so not a lot to show. But, I have a giveaway for you!

I bet that restaurant had great food! Very cute little outdoor tables. That looks like a great place for a thrift shop and at least you had something to do while Troy got tests done. Love your cute little finds, the beanpot and pitcher is very nice! Good finds!
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in this giveaway!! Thanks!
Diann... that restaurant looks soo cute, so does the thrift store. I'm guessing you were in a small town.
ReplyDeleteI love the flower platter!

Love the bowl, lots of neat things!
ReplyDeleteThat sure did look like a really cute place to eat. I think the old mom and pop places are still the best places for good food.

ReplyDeleteA great new place to eat and a new trift store to visit--2 treats in one. It's a shame when you have to leave treasures behind. I hope your husband is OK.

ReplyDeleteCheck out those old signs on the restaurant. So cool. Probably had awesome hamburgers.
ReplyDeleteI love little restaurants, they seem to have better food than the larger ones 99% of the time. That platter is beautiful, anything green/white is in my book!
ReplyDeleteOh girl I bet they have a GREAT hamburger there and open 24/7 wow!! Love the little shop and that victorian plant stand I seen ha ha!! Hope you have a GREAT weekend my friend...Hugs and smiles Gl♥ria
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm glad you had a couple of happy spots on that vacation of yours. Those are the cutest little red bistro sets I've ever seen! Lezlee
ReplyDeleteNo one likes to hang out at a hospital, but one with a thrift store within walking distance is a whole other story...Us thrifty people are terrible, aren't we. I am visiting from Debbiedoos.

That little restaurant is the kind I like to find when we're traveling. Family owned restaurants usually have the best pie and hamburgers. Notice I listed dessert first. lol
ReplyDeleteThe thrift shop had some cute things.
Your yard sale things are really nice and the prices were great. Don't you love it when they sell things reasonable instead of asking antique store prices?
Hope things are okay with your husband.
Cute little sidewalk tables and the thrift shop looked like it had some neat treasures. I'm sorry for the circumstance that had you there and hope your husband is better.
ReplyDeleteI just became your latest follower and would love to be entered.

Diann, I just went back and read the post about your vacation (which I had missed and which obviously was not much of a vacation)! I'm so sorry. His leg looked horrible. No wonder he was miserable, but you obviously pulled through and took care of everything. I'm impressed! I've never pulled our RV, and I hope I never have to! I would be a nervous wreck - and back it into a space - NO WAY!
ReplyDeleteThat little restaurant is sooo cute! You found some wonderful treasures at the garage sale. Love that painted glass tray and also the first tray you showed. I hope you are getting some rest, and I hope your husband is continuing to improve. Thank you for linking up. Have a restful weekend. laurie
I love that little restaurant and how neat it was right near the hospital. It looks so cute and it is nice to have outside seating available. It surely was tiny--it makes it interesting.
