A Yellow Tea Party!

Woohoo! Hi everyone! I am so excited to post a tea party today. It has been a couple of weeks and I was having serious withdrawals!

I decided to use my new pretty vintage mirror I just got this past weekend at the flea market (for $2.00!!) as a place to create my setting.

I wanted to set a yellow tea party for you. Yellow is a tough color for me to find in pretty dishware. But, when I found this yellow teapot a couple of weeks ago at the flea market, I just had to try and pull together a yellow tea setting for you!

Isn't this an awesome teapot? I look at it and it reminds me of Aladdin's Lamp. I have no idea who made it it. The bottom stamp simply says, "Guaranteed 22 Karate Gold, U.S.A.". I paid $3.00 for it and was very happy with my bargain!

At the same flea market vendor, I bought this pretty yellow saucer. I thought the color was beautiful and the design was interesting. It was made in Germany. although the picture almost looks like lustre ware, it is a pale creamy yellow color with a lustre finish. Very soft looking in person.

The Teacup I am featuring today is this pretty yellow and deep wine rose pattern one. It is a "Royal Dover" teacup.

All of the other items in this tea setting were all thrift finds.

I thought since it had been a couple of weeks since you have joined me for a tea party, it seemed fitting to invite you over for a light afternoon lunch. I made ham salad finger sandwiches and cut up a fresh sweet ripe plum and added a dollop of whipped cream for you.

My ham salad recipe is pretty easy and basic.

Grind up ham, dill pickle and pickled pearl onions. Mix in equal parts mayo and miracle whip. That's it.

A little tea sandwich info for you:

A tea sandwich is a small prepared sandwich meant to be eaten at afternoon teatime to stave off hunger until the main meal.

The tea sandwich may take a number of different forms, but should be easy to handle, and should be capable of being eaten in two bites. It may be a long, narrow sandwich, a triangular half-sandwich, or a small biscuit. It may also be cut into other decorative shapes with a cookie cutter.

The bread is traditionally white, thinly sliced, and buttered. The bread crust is cut away cleanly from the sandwich after the sandwich has been prepared but before serving. Modern bread variations might include wheat, pumpernickel, sour dough or rye bread.

Fillings are light, and are "dainty" or "delicate" in proportion to the amount of bread. Spreads might include cream cheese or mayonnaise mixtures, and the sandwiches often feature fresh vegetables such as radishes, cucumber, asparagus, or watercress. The cucumber tea sandwich in particular is considered the quintessential tea sandwich. Other popular tea sandwich fillings include pimento cheese, smoked salmon, fruit jam, curried chicken, and egg salad.
