Just Some Little Touches

I seem to have a thing for hanging little ornaments in different places. I didn't realize that I did this until just recently. LOL Most of these little, we are calling them "special touches", started out life as Christmas ornaments. Have you noticed how many Christmas ornaments don't really look Christmasy? They have come out with some absolutely beautiful things these last few years that can be used year round in your decor.

So for today's post, I am just going to take you around my home and show you a few of my "special touches".

In the kitchen, I have this little cross. The colors are perfect for this area. It hangs on a free standing cabinet.

These are our drapes in our dining room. They are a heavy chenille. I just love them. The colors are perfect. This picture showing you the design is not a great picture but, I wanted you to see the design. We got them last summer at JCPenney's. They also had a matching crystal beaded insert panel. So, I have that over light gold sheers. You have seen these in all of my tablescapes because the table is right in front of the window. I just thought I would show you an upclose picture.

These little birds hang of the shabbified teacup bathroom.

These are in my bedroom. These first two (let me apologize right now for the horrible pictures) are hand blown glass ornaments. I have had them for many years.

This little cross hangs off of a picture in our bedroom.

This is hanging on my dresser mirror.

And this has been hanging off of our ceiling light in our bedroom for a gazillion years. Last night, while we were gone, we had some massive winds come in. Not only did it yank this right off the fixture but, it went all the way across our room and was laying in the hallway! I also found one of my favorite mercury glass candleholders in a 1,000 pieces as well as one of my antique china dishes (used it to hold my watch and rings)! I was not a happy camper!

  6. Diann, you have such pretty personal touches hanging around your house. I do that too. Sometimes those Christmas ornaments are just too pretty to store away until next year. So sorry about the wind damage. laurie

  10. You're so smart to use those Christmas ornaments as "special touches" throughout your home! They're just the right size for adding a little something in lots of spots. Way to think outside the box! Makes me think I need to bring the box of ornaments down from the attic and see what I could put to use year-round. I have a cross collection, so I have several cross ornaments. Thanks for the idea!

I am SO sorry to hear about that strong wind. I would be so upset if I came home to find some of my pretty things smashed to bits. . . although I guess I'd rather have something broken by forces of nature than by my kids--at least there's no person to be mad at.

Thanks so much for linking to my party!
