Pretty Little Green, Blue and White Thrifty Table

Today's tablescape is brought to you from Goodwill. LOL Well, basically that is true. The whole table is set around these very cute green, blue and white plates and cups. They are not vintage or retro, just sweet. Each piece of the plates & coffee cups were .20 cents each. I got them a few weeks ago at a trip to a new to me Goodwill store.

I have showed you some pieces that I bought at this Goodwill store in the past few weeks. I was kind of surprised to find such good prices. First, because as we all know, the thrift stores have generally gone insane regarding pricing these days and second, the location of this store. It is in a pretty decent size city and it is located right across the road from a major mall. The stores on either side of it is Barnes and Nobles and Casual Male. Not two stores know for it's deep discount prices. And there are a ton of stores just like these all around it.

It was a very bright clean open store and most of the shoppers were looking at clothes. Very few were interested in housewares. Yippee for me!

I loved how they priced their dishes. A big sign on the wall state: all plates, bowls, cups, glasses are .29 cents each unless otherwise priced. Now, that's my kind of shopping! Apparently, however, when I got to the register I discovered there was an additional discount. Always a nice surprise!!

Okay, let's look at the individual pieces....

Aren't those just the cutest Spring looking dishes? I really like the clean look of the colors. Oh, the white soup bowls are just from my everyday dishes. They did not have any bowls that matched this set.

I started the table with a light blue linen tablecloth which I purchased at a Salvation Army store. It is actually really a large tablecloth (it is hanging on the floor on both ends). It is in perfect condition. I paid $2.00 for it. I used woven white place mats. They have a bit of a sheen to them. I have had them awhile and for the life of me can't remember where I got them.

A lot of the accessory dishes I have showed throughout this week.

The milk glass candle holders. Oh, by the way, even the white taper candles came from a thrift store. I had bought a huge bag of mixed candles. Some were broken, some half burnt and some in perfect condition. I actually bought the bag of candles because there was one candle in it that I wanted for a friend. LOL

These little mercury glass votive holders were bought new. I know a lot of you got these and are really glad you did because they work so great into to many different looks. They were at Target this year in the Christmas items. Each were .99 cents. And the little silver holder they are in along with the silver cup holder that my napkin and silverware are in were bought at the Dollar Tree. They are "supposed" to be a pencil holder and a paperclip holder. I saw them and immediately bought them for tablescaping! LOL

Now just some different pictures of the items used here.

Now a little candlelight.

Well, I hope you enjoyed another very thrifty tablescape. Wouldn't you guys be totally shocked if I did a table that was "non-thrifty"? LOL There are just so many beautiful things that have already been made that, for whatever reason, people decided to get rid of. I love to play with pretty dishes and can honestly say, if I didn't go the route of 2nd hand, I wouldn't be able to afford to do this.

So, if you are out thrifting and find something for a really great price and it makes you smile, don't worry if you don't have a "complete" set of it. That one piece will work into other found treasures. I guarantee it! And different pieces make for a very pretty and interesting table.

Okay, now head over to two wonderful blogs for two great parties!

  7. Really great! I love the dishes! You do such a great job with all your thrifty finds. My GoodWill stores have lost their minds and everything is so expensive I could buy on sale at the store and get the whole set! I was shocked when I went to one lately. No one was buying and I knew why! I bought 2 cups and saucers that were 1.59 a set then at this place comparable ones were $2.99 each piece! Glad you get the bargains! Hugs, Lisa

  24. Love your thrift shop finds. I volunteer weekly at one and often come home with treasures. In addition, the ladies in residence at The Women's Home are developing quite an eye for pieces that can be used in tablescapes, and I am posting them as they are created. It's been a wonderful exercise for the ladies.
