A Favorite ~ The Color Yellow

Hi Everyone! Today we party at Laurie's house over at Bargain Shopping and Chatting with Laurie for her weekly Saturday party, A Few of My Favorite Things. Make sure to drop by and say hi!

Maybe it is just me but, I seem to have a really hard time finding any dishes, serving items, vases, pitchers etc. that are vintage or older in yellow. Does any one else notice this or is it just me?

Well, when I do find some vintage pieces in yellow I like, I snatch them up. I have a couple of cute and pretty things to show you featuring the color yellow.

Here are two little dessert glasses. They have pretty etched leaf/vine design on them. The base is a yellow glass "bubble" design. I have no idea who made these and no idea what the bubble design is called. I got them last summer at an antique mall.

This pretty frosted yellow glass candy dish I have had for awhile now. I have it sitting on my dresser and have been using it for my watches. But, I think I am going to fill if with dusting powder and a powder puff. Once again, the glass top has that bubble design on it. I can't find a manufacturer for this piece either.

This is just a simple yellow creamer. I use it a lot. No markings on it what so ever. It has some pretty crazing in the glaze.

And this gorgeous cake plate and server came from our very own hostess with the mostess, Laurie here at "Bargain Shopping and Chatting with Laurie"!! I won it in a giveaway Laurie had back in October. Isn't this plate just amazing? I just love it. And when company comes over and I bake a cake, this is the one I show off.....er use!

I think you are right. It is hard to find yellow, except maybe new pieces in the spring with flowers and roosters and stuff! I am looking for yellow pillows for my family room and am having a hard time finding anything that isn't wild!!

I love all your pieces and the cake plate from Laurie is beautiful. I love giveaways!!

  3. I think the yellow fairies have gathered up all the yello vintage and hidden it away! It is hard to find, it's rare that we see it in our shop.
I do like the pieces in your collection, they are lovely.

    Keep looking.

  5. I love your cake plate Diane! I rarely see yellow dishes although I don't specifically look for that color! But running through my mind I remember being at the thrift store today and no yellow anywhere! I will look again tomorrow when I check the price on my silver teapot that is waiting for me to buy it! :)

  9. I'm quite the fan of anything that comes in a retro buttery color - especially paired with turquoise and red...yummy! Love your yellowy finds!

  10. I love all your wonderful yellow! Those desert cups are beautiful! I love that bubble bottom and like you don't know much about who made that design. That cake plate is elegant! Gorgeous! I only have a few yellow pieces and they are mostly Harlequin China and it's not a soft yellow at all! Lovely pieces, thanks for showing us!

  11. I love your yellow!! I have a few fun pieces of yellow that are vintage, but have to admit that I find more blue & white, tans, pinks and greens as vintage than I do yellow. Thanks for sharing such lovely pieces.

  16. Diann, love all your yellow, and yes, it is hard to find, especially when are looking for something in a soft yellow! Are the little yellow dessert glasses called "Boopie Glass"? Seems like I remember someone calling it that, but I may be entirely wrong.
