ABC Wednesday~ A New Giveaway!

Today we are featuring the letter "I" at ABC Wednesday.

"I" is for ...Information Highway

A popular buzzword to describe the Internet, bulletin board services, online services, and other services that enable people to obtain information from telecommunications networks. In the U.S., there is currently a national debate about how to shape and control these avenues of information. Many people believe that the information highway should be designed and regulated by government, just like conventional highway systems. Others argue that government should adopt a more laissez faire attitude. Nearly everyone agrees that accessing the information highway is going to be a normal part of everyday life in the near future.

Without even leaving our homes, think of how connected we are with people.

*Computers
*Cell phones
*Texting
*Fax
*Email
*Websites
*Blogs
*Facebook
*MySpace
*Twitter
*Chatrooms
*Message Boards
*Ebay
*Etsy

And about a gazillion other networks, social meeting places etc.

Long gone are the days where just "businesses" had all the technology. Each one of us is now a walking breathing "Communication Center". We have a huge list of ways to get hold of us.

I chose today to tie in a giveaway by the good folks at Uprinting because it is so appropriate. And what is the giveaway? It is for 500 free business cards.

I think the term "business cards" is a little outdated. Each one of us is a business these days. I don't even think of them as "Business Cards" I think of them as "Information Cards."

The first time I got my own "personal" business cards, (not counting all the cards that my employers had paid for during all those years of management) was when I started Ebaying. I included them in each package I sent, so that people would remember to check back to my listings. Plus, if they bought from me again, they would get a discount on their next purchase.

The next time I got business cards was after a month or so of blogging. When I first started this blog, it was almost all about freebies, samples, coupons, best deals in the area etc. I would go into a store with a fistful of coupons, go to the register with a bunch of items and end up paying a just a few dollars. The cashier and the people in line behind me would be amazed and would ask me how I did this. They all wanted to know where I got these awesome coupons from. Well, I got tired of trying to find some scrap of paper to write down my blog address. So, I got cards made after hearing about so many other bloggers do the same. I still go through this almost every time I go grocery shopping.

My Mom loves to tell her friends about my blog, so I gave her a stack of my cards to keep in her purse, so she can pass them along for me.

But, now I need to add even more info to my cards. So, I am excited to get new ones made through UPrinting!

Think about it. Instead of writing out your cell phone number, email addy, twitter name, facebook page, blog addy, Etsy store info, Ebay ID, or any other numerous ways to find you, you could just have a cute card made up.

It is kind of like going back in time and using "calling cards", and no, I am not referring to pre-paid phone cards. LOL

I see moms with young kids handing these to their kids teachers. Way easier than writing all the info down. The teacher has everything she/he needs right in that little card. This is just another example.

It's kind of like having your own little billboard, advertising your exit, on the Information Highway.

So, on to the giveaway!
