Thrifty Vintage Thursday!

Today we have two fun parties going on. Over at "Tales From Bloggeritaville" we have Thrifty Thursday going on. And over at "The Coloradolady" we have Vintage Thingie Thursday!

We have an antique mall sort of close to us (about 15 miles) and whenever I get the chance to have a couple of hours completely to myself, I head down there and browse.

Whats fun about going back to the same antique mall is that you get to "know" the vendors. I don't mean personally, but how they price and what they sell on a regular basis.

Well, I discovered a tiny vendor space tucked between two large vendor areas. I always go straight to this vendor area first! He always just has odds and ends and he really prices his stuff to sell! I have found some wonderful treasures in his booth.

I got these pretty antique dishes from his booth. The largest platter (about 12") has a lot of crazing, which I love. The smaller platter (about 9") is in perfect condition and the bowl (about 10") has a chip in it. This set has pretty little yellow and white flowers with some blue here and there. Pretty gold accents. These china pieces were made by Canonsburg China. Canonsburg China Company went into production in 1901. They changed their name to Canonsburg Pottery in 1909. this set was made somewhere between 1901-1909 while it was still Canonsburg China. So, these pieces appeared to be at least 100 years old.

Each piece was .......$1.00!! I plan to use these on my dresser. Our bedroom is in pale yellow and I like to use pretty dishes for my everyday items. The larger platter will be used for perfumes. The smaller platter for watch, earrings and other daily jewelry. In the bowl I think am going to put a pretty crystal candle holder and a candle.

  2. Wow, what great deals! I definitely understand the "priced to sell" comment--I've been in some booths and stores, and as my mama would say "They're proud of their things, aren't they?" (which means it's priced to look at, but not to sell!)

    Good find!

  11. You sound like me. You'd rather go antiquing by yourself and just take your time! I love when some dealers have really inexpensive things mixed in with the more expensive stuff. I love your idea of using these little beauties in your bedroom!
    Happy VTT!
