Pretty, Romantic and Thrifty Valentine Tablescape

Three lovely ladies at three lovely blogs host three lovely parties each week. Our Hostesses are:

Leigh at Tales From Bloggeritaville for Thrifty Thursday

Susan at Between Naps of the Porch for Tablescape Thursday

Suzanne at Coloradolady for Vintage Thingie Thursday

Grab something to drink, a snack, get your jammies on, grab a quilt and snuggle up to your laptop while you visit each of these blogs!

I hope you enjoy my thrift store finds, some new little goodies and lots of pretty for Valentines Day.

First thing on the table was a vintage linen white tablecloth. I got it at a secondhand store last year for $1.59. Then deep red textured place mats. bought at Walmart clearanced for $1.00 each. For dishes I started with using a inexpensive set of white with gold rimmed dishes made by Gibson. I got a 16 piece set for $3.50 last Spring at Salvation Army. I bought a red Valentine garland at The Christmas Tree Shops for $1.00. I cut it up to fit around the dinner plates.

These red and white transferware salad plates were bought on clearance at TJ Maxx. I got 2 of them. Each were $1.25.

Then I added the white and gold saucer. The matching bowl I set to the side of the place setting.

I then added these beautiful Royal Albert Val D'Or Bone China tea cups (made in 1961. The design is a Montrose shape). I just think they are so elegant looking. I got 2 teacups in perfect condition for $1.00 (for both).

Next I added these gold and white rose design wine glasses. I don't know the maker or era. I got a set of 4 at a secondhand store for $1.75.

Then these pretty little cut glass aperitif glasses. These are so delicate and lovely in person. I got 6 of them for $2.00 at a flea market.

A little crocheted white heart. I have had these so long that I don't remember when, where or how much.

I added a cut glass dessert dish to the bowl. It actually has a pink tinge to it. These too, were bought at a secondhand store.

For the napkin and silverware I decided to use white linen napkins that have a small cutout flower in them. I got a set of 4 at Pier 1 clearanced for $1.98. I used my everyday silverware and put them into vintage pedestal white milk glass vases with a fruit raised design. I bought the cute heart napkin rings at The Christmas Tree Shops for $1.00 each.

I also bought these cute little treat boxes at the Christmas Tree Shops. There was 4 to a package for .59 cents! I set them in the dessert dishes.

I used these little glass and gold rimmed bowls filled with red hot candies and a tealight. 4 bowls were .99 cents at Goodwill.

A large pretty china platter for a centerpiece. Bought a couple of years ago at Salvation Army for $1.00.

I added my newly found glass and silver pitcher (posted about this past Sunday's). Hubby got me a couple of clearanced bouquets of flowers. I added some more garland on the platter. And added crystal candle holders and my "after Christmas clearanced" candles.

I just found this pretty cherub heart shaped plate at Salvation Army a couple of weeks ago. It was $1.50 and still in the original Dayton-Hudson box.

This beautiful china plate (Haviland France, Haviland & Co. Limoges ) was from an antique mall. I paid $2.00 for this pretty piece.

I added two pretty white and gold "lovebirds" on the plate.

Now, finally (did you take a nap? LOL I know, I have a ton of pictures) the finished table.

  34. Karyl,

Hi and thank you for taking the time to stop by and leave a lovely comment! The crystal candles sticks (bought at Salvation Army $1.59 for the pair) have bobeches on top of them with the hanging crystals. I found a Christmas shop in Ohio called "The Candy Cane Christmas Shoppe" this past summer. Here is their website: http://www.candycanechristmas.com/default.aspx

They had these pretty bobeches for a decent price. I think I paid $4.95 each for them which I almost choked paying that atthe time but, after trying to find them with the hanging crystals and seeing the prices, I changed my mind! LOL

The candles were an after Christmas sale at TJ Maxx (I posted about it here.... http://thethriftygroove.blogspot.com/2010/01/show-and-tell-friday.html)
