Thrifty Valentine Idea

Well, Valentines Day is coming up and next in the world of holiday decorating. When we decorate for Valentines day here, it needs to be fun and sparkly. The little princess loves seeing fun hearts from ribbon twirling in the air and other just fun decorations.

So, to start out my Valentines decorations, I wanted to take advantage of things I already have. I did buy 3 bags of Sweetheart candies and a spool of heart ribbon. I got these 4 items at the Dollar store. Everything else, I already had.

Here are the things I used:

I used my great grandmother's doily. I love this one with the pretty pink flowers on it.

3 canning jars (emptied out home canned pickles and tomatoes last week)

2 red and 1 white candles (from my candle stash..clearance a few years ago, 10/$1.00)

Red charger plate (bought at Target for Christmas this year. I love the color and scrollie design on the edges)

3 bags of sweetheart candy

1 spool of dollar store ribbon

A little bit of red and white shredded paper (from my stash of clearanced gift wrapping stuff)

First down, doily

Next, charger plate

I took the canning jars and put the candle in and held it while I poured in the candy. You can use whatever jars you have handy.

Tied a ribbon bow around each jar. Put some red and white shredded paper tucked around.

I made it in on the little "coffee table" in the living room but, it is moving to the dining room table. It is just too tempting with all that candy to the little princess! LOL

  12. Love this! Though I think I'd have to keep the candles lit to keep my hands out of the sweethearts. :)
