Show and Tell Friday

It's Show and Tell Friday over at Cindy's blog, My Romantic Home. Don't forget to stop by, say hi and check out all the beautiful finds this week!

A couple of weeks ago, I showed you one of my favorite awesome Christmas presents Troy got me. My set of crystal salt wells and little glass salt spoons. Here is the post.

I was so excited about opening this gift up! I find salt wells fairly regularly but, the little spoons are much harder to find. And the little glass spoons, are even harder. They are just so fragile and break with little effort.

When I was at the trade center the other day thrifting my little 'ol heart out, I saw these little glass shell designed salt spoons! There was 7 little spoons and 1 just a tad larger. The set of 7 didn't have any price tags on them but, the one larger one had a little tag stating $9.00. I found a worker and asked to see the spoons. Then I asked if all 8 were the same set. He said yes and I snatched them up immediately! So, I got all 8 piece for $9.00 which is a total steal!! Now I have extra glass spoons. But, I have to confess, $9.00 was a rather large sum of money for me to fork over, or should I say "spoon" over for such little items.

Another rare beauty I found at my thrift-shop-a-thon is this pretty round china butter dish! I have been looking for a round butter dish just because they are unique and so pretty.

Isn't that just the sweetest little butter dish! The vendor originally had $10.00 marked on it. It was late in the day when I was shopping his booth and as I picked up a few items, he informed me that "that table is all 50% off". Which is something you want to keep in mind when you are out thrifting. Quite often, vendors will really wheel and deal to make those last final sales for the day. I just recently discovered that our Salvation Army has been announcing during the last hour they are open that everything in the store is 30% off. Anyway, back to my little butter dish. So, the dish would be $5.00 now. Since it was the end of the day and I had spent my thrifting allowance for the rest of the month (LOL) I was hesitant. $5.00 was a good price for his dish but, I was more or less browsing at this time. He also had a .50 cent table that I saw several things I wanted. After noticing what I was purchasing he made me a deal I couldn't refuse, $3.00 for the butter dish! The butter dish is Royal Stafford "Guaranteed English Bone china" made in England.

  12. That was a great find on the spoons. I am thinking the bigger spoon was for a master salt.

  14. I'm so salivating over your salt spoons!! I bought 6 salt cellars at a resale shop on the Eastern Shore this summer with NO spoons. At least I have hope that I may find some still. They are usually $9-10 each. You got a wonderful bargain.
