De-Decorating

I always have such mixed emotions when it comes to taking down and putting away Christmas decorations. Part of it is a dreaded chore. Another part is a fresh start with doing a good cleaning before putting things back to normal. Another part is that it is kind of sad seeing another Christmas pass by. De-decorating I did!

This is a corner in the dining room. Here is what it looked like this morning:

And now it looks like this:

Now everything is packed up. I had some smaller boxes in which I placed, in one box, all gold ornaments, another box all the gold and silver picks and 2 more little boxes. then they were placed in the big Rubbermaid container. I used some Christmas labels I got several years ago at Big Lots for .25 cents a pack. Everything is clearly marked with what is inside the box.

I'm joining Metamorphisis Monday over at "Between Naps on the Porch".

  1. I need to mark my containers with what is inside so I don't have to open them all and rummage from one to the other to pull it all together. I think I will pack up 'like' things together this time and make it easier still. So no I have not de-decorated yet!

  2. We just put away our decorations yesterday. The decorations from each room were packed together in a tote and labeled with the contents and the date. My husband puts them all in the same area in the attic, which makes things easier for next year.

  3. Using the gift tags to mark the containers is clever!

  5. I always hate to get started taking down all of the pretties. But after I get started, I think about how I can rearrange what I normally have out so it will look new.

  6. I put my decorations away today too. I haven't redecorated my mantel yet so my living room looks so bare. I guess it will be a good reason for me to do some thrifting to see what I can find.

  7. How organized you are. I try to be organized but I always end up just putting the decorations in any box, just to get it finished.

My Daughter is in her late 30's and every year when I am at her house, I sneak a new decoration on her tree, it has kind of become a tradition. This year I hid a little box on the back of her tree where she wouldn't find it until she was taking it down. In the box I put $5 and a note that said something like.... Just one more surprise before you put all your decorations away.

    Have a great week. Terry
