Hair Cut

Yesterday I got my hair cut. So, big deal right? Well, for me it was. I got almost 20 inches cut off! Yup, now I have what I consider short hair even though the salon calls it medium long. LOL

Okay, the reason for this post is not to let you know I got my hair cut, but to remind you that if you have long hair and are ready to get it cut, please check with your local salon to see if the participate in hair donations".

When I sat down to get my hair cut and the hairdresser found out how much I wanted cut off she asked me if I would be willing to donate my hair. Of course! She then put my hair in a ponytail and cut it off and braided it. A grand total of 18 & 3/4 inch braid was donated.

There are so many great charities who are looking for hair donations. one such charity is "Locks of Love".

Here is their Mission Statement:

Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.

It's "just " hair to you and I, however, it could help someone else. So, please keep this in mind the next time you go and have your hair cut. Thanks :)

  1. Awesome! And I bet your hair looks great too!

    Lou Cinda :)

  2. I'm so glad that your hairdresser asked you if you wanted to donate it! I bet it feels really weird to not have that hair to wash and brush! I'm doing the opposite. I'm trying to grow mine out.

  3. Diann that is such a great cause. I have short hair and almost always have, but one of my daughters has donated twice to Locks of Love.
    Smiles to you!
