Tackle it Tuesday!

Hi y'all and welcome to my "Tackle it Tuesday" post. Make sure and stop by 5 Minutes for Mom

I have been selling on Ebay for about 8 years now. I mainly sell books. The Hubs and I read books like crazy. Between the two of us, we go through a lot of books. So, I always have books to resell. I buy our books from book sales, thrift stores, Ebay, yard sales, you name it. I hit up a lot of great book sales this past summer to stock us up for our winter reads.

After you have been selling on Ebay, you get the feel of the "ups and downs" for different selling times for different items. Oddly enough, summer is not a good time to sell books. By the time Spring is over, you might as well pack it in until Fall. I will sell a few here and there but, overall, it really isn't worth listing. I end up losing money.

So, I sell heavily from mid-October until about the mid-November. I can generally make enough money to pay for 60-70% of all our Christmas expenses. Then I have learned to stop listing until after the holidays. Mid to late January is a good time to start selling again.

So, right now, I have "Books to be read" boxes, "Books to be sold" boxes and "books to be donated" boxes. And I have a LOT of boxes!

Now I need to go through and start organizing the books to be sold. One would think you just start reaching into a box and list the book. It doesn't really work that way. Not if you want to get the most bang out of your listings. We really love to find an author we enjoy and then search for all the books that author has written. So, we have a lot of "series" books. Those need to be listing at the same time. We also have several different genres of books that we read. Those do better if you list those all at the same time. So, I really need to start sorting through them and organizing my "list dates" and how many of them I want to list each week. And then scheduling time to list.

So, that is my "Tackle' for the day. Getting my Ebay books ready to sell. What are you doing today? Got something that you need to tackle?

  1. Good luck with your selling! It makes sense that people might read less when the weather is nicer, then try to stock up on good reads for the coming winter.

  2. I've sold a few items on Ebay and Etsy. Do you think it's best to list an item on Ebay for 3 days? Or a whole week? We are just kinda starting out, and not really sure.
    Thanks for sharing!

  3. I have sold on eBay in the past, mostly my two daughters' outgrown clothing. I know that it can be a lot of work getting things listed, but the payoff can be worth it!
