I got Thrifty at JCPenney..Say What??!!

Yup, you heard me right! I got thrifty at JCPenney! Cheaper than Kmart, Walmart, Target, Big Lots and even most thrift stores!

I was actually at JCPenney looking for curtains, which I did find at 50% off which was a good thing because otherwise I would never have been able to afford them. As it was, they set me back a pretty penny! But, that isn't what today's post is about. LOL

As I was going up to the register to purchase my curtains, I saw a sign at the jewelry counter that said "Clearance". Like I can walk right past! NOT! I was looking and everything was so pretty. We are talking just fun pieces. The necklaces were originally $18.00 but were clearanced at $6.99. The earrings were regularly $12.00 (one was $10.00), clearanced to $4.99 and the bracelets were regularly $12.00 clearanced to $2.97.

Well, those clearance prices were still way too high for me. Even if they would have been 50% off the clearance prices, they still would have been a little too high or me. See, I am cheapskate, there I said it out loud!

I had been on a serious dry spell when it came to finding good clearance deals on jewelry lately. It had been months and months since I bought any new pieces.

Anyway, I started to move away from the jewelry counter and I saw what was obviously a manager heading to the jewelry girl. She had a stack of papers in her arms and a telxon unit. Okay, I have been in and out of retail management for about 16 years, I knew exactly what was coming for the jewelry girl! More markdowns! So, I kinda lingered in the area and yes, I eavesdropped a bit. Sue me! LOL And sure enough, she was being told to reduce the clearance again! Woohoo!

Miss jewelry counter girl wasn't real thrilled with her new assignment. The manager walked away and the jewelry woman started to head to the clearance rack I was just at.

So, I walked back over and said, "Markdowns again?" She said, "Yep". So, I grabbed several things and said, "Well, if you just check these prices for me, and if they are reduced a decent amount, I will just buy them and you don't have to mark them."

Sure enough, all the things I had just looked at were getting markdown again. And at much better prices! So, I got 4 necklaces, 3 sets of earrings and 2 bracelets. The prices you ask?

Necklaces: Original-$18.00 1st markdown - $6.99 2nd markdown - $1.79!!

Earrings: Original - $10.00 & $12.00 - 1st markdown - $4.99 - 2nd markdown - .97 cents!!

Bracelets: Original - $12.00 - 1st markdown - $2.97 2nd markdown - .47 cents!!

Can you believe my luck?!! Yippee!!

So, for about $11.00 I got all of this..........................................

Here are all my lovely bargains!

I must confess, it was nice to pick up a few decent pieces of jewelry from JCPenney. I love a lot of the things they have but, really it just isn't in the budget. They have decent quality. Not that any of this jewelry is high end by any means, but, it is just pretty pieces that I can enjoy.

  1. You REALLY got some great jewelry! What you don't wear would make wonderful Christmas gifts too. You were WAY thrifty in the way you handled getting the markdowns.

    Have a great day!

  2. Wow! What a haul. I'm going to be lurking around watching for managers with stacks of papers and a texlon unit...what is that...the scanner thing?! LOL!

I've quit shopping our Penneys for the most part because they took out most of the registers in the store. There are only two in the front of the store and then the catalog area in back. The worst part is, the dressing rooms are locked and the cashiers are the ones who unlock it for you. If they're busy with a long line, you're out of luck. Twice I've abandoned armloads of clothes I wanted to try on because I had to wait so long...like more than 10 minutes. The store is small and mostly clothes so I don't know how they are staying open. Oh my, I'm ranting aren't I? Sorry!

    Happy thrify shopping!

LOL, feel free to rant here anytime you want! If I had to wait to try on something for that long, I would have just dumped the merchandise and walked away. Doesn't sound like they really want te business!

  11. Congratulations on the great deals! At those prices, it would make sense to buy jewelry for decorating/craft projects (probably cheaper than buying the "ingredients" at a craft store)!

Hope our paths cross again very soon. Have a great weekend!
