Camping experiment - Hobo Popcorn

Even though we camp with a Travel Trailer now, it doesn't mean we don't like to still cook outside and try new things. One of the new things we tried was making "Hobo Popcorn". Which is simply popping the popcorn over the campfire in a homemade foil pack. And as with many first time experiments, this one had less than desirable results. But, we had fun, laughed and learned what not to do for next time!

So, here is our Hobo Popcorn experiment:

First off, the recipe states use one tablespoon of oil and one tablespoon of popcorn. We would change that to at least double that amount.

Okay, this is how NOT to fold the foil pack. You should gather all the corners up to top and then tie off.

Another import note to self: Do NOT use regular string to make Hobo Popcorn. It burns! Find thin wire!

Oops!

Well, hum, yup some burnt popcorn. Back to the drawing board!

** Sorry this is so late posting. Blogger has been screwing with me and my pictures. Grrrrr!

  5. Reminds me of Jiffy Pop Popcorn. Do you remember that? I used to beg my mom to grab one of those foil pans that would hang all over the grocery store, and every now and then she would actually buy one. Such fun!!!
