"Blue Monday" and my Bargains!

Hi everyone! Here is another wonderful blog I found last week. It is called Smiling Sally. Every Monday Sally hosts "Blue Monday". To quote Sally, " Post about something blue on your blog. It can be pretty, ugly, funny, old, or new as long as it's blue. Leave a link to this blog on your post. That's it.

This week I will be joining the linkup at Blue Monday for the first time. My "Blues" this week are these summer time sky blue dinner and salad plates. I have been looking for these exact plates for most of the summer and of course, I found them a few days ago now that summer is pretty much gone. But, that's okay, I still plan to use them for a "Farewell to Summer" dinner soon.

My mom and I and the Little Princess had a girl's shopping day. Our goal, to find some bargains! We headed to a couple of Thrift Stores and ended up at Big Lots. And that is were I found my plates.

If you remember, earlier this summer I had the pleasure of doing a free shopping trip at both TJMaxx and Marshalls with a $25.00 gift card to each store thanks to the folks at TJMaxx/Marshalls. Here are those two posts and what I got for my money:

Marshalls Shopping Trip
TJMaxx Shopping Trip

I got all these beauiful sky blue summertime items for the table but, I never found the right plates to go with all of it.

Here are the simple plain elusive sky blue plates I finally found:

I was lucky, they had exactly 4 dinner plates and 4 salad plates left in the clearance section!

I'm sorry the pale blue does not show up very well in these pictures.Remember you can click the picture to get a better, uplose view of them.

A picture of the back of the salad plate. They are made by Echo Point and they originally were priced for whatever store they were selling at before they were sent to Big Lots for $8.00 a salad plate. I don't think so! This is The Thrifty Groove so, you know I wasn't going to pay that price! Then they were marked down to Big Lots pricing of $3.00 a plate. Then they were marked down again to $1.50 a plate. And that was not a bad deal! However, they were on the special "75% off the lowest sticker price table"! So, each of the plates cost me about $0.38 each! Now we are talking my kind of bargain!!

This is the back of the Dinner plates. Once again, the original retail price was $10.00 a plate. Then marked down to Big Lots price of $3.00 and then clearanced to $1.50 and finally into my hot little hand for $0.38 each!

So, my 4 salad plates and 4 dinner plates came out to a grand total of $3.04! Not a bad deal! That is one of the things I love about Big Lots, you just never know what kind of bargain you are going to get!

Don't forget to head over to Sally's and check out other Blue Mondays!
